Different types of printers available right now

Printers happen to be amongst the most common accessories which we use along with computers and other accessories these days. In this blog, we have stated the most common types of printers obtainable on the market.

1. Laser printers

As suggested by their name, laser printers use a laser beam to heat a toner material adhering to the paper. Although most laser printers are monochrome, you will also find colour laser printers on the market. Despite being expensive as compared to inkjet printers, these printers are high in demand at present. Using the sophisticated RIP software, these types of printers are usually used in workplaces rather than residences. The good thing is that their prices have gone down significantly in recent times.

2.  Dot-matrix printer

It is an impact printer that uses tiny dots for printing graphics and text on paper. It uses a print head consisting of some metal pins for striking an inked ribbon that produces dots on paper. In general, their printing speed is 100 to 500 characters every second as per the printing quality desired. Around 10 to 24 pins are used by a dot-matrix printer that will figure out the print quality.

3. Inkjet printers

Being non-impact line printers, the ink of these types of printers is stored in disposable cartridges. On most occasions, we use a separate cartridge for each colour. Tiny electrically charged ink droplets are sprayed by the inkjet printers from nozzles via holes onto paper at high speed. These printers have the ability to print in colour and are more inexpensive and noiseless unlike laser printers. Nevertheless, they print at a slower speed, and the print resolution happens to be between 200 and 1,200 dpi.

4. Thermal printers

These types of printers are found in fax machines or calculators, and they do not emit much noise as well. Moreover, they will help the companies save plenty of cash as well. These printers are expensive since they require costly paper for printing. However, the good thing is that they will be able to produce the best quality colour printing out there.

Thermal printers are available in various styles and sizes for satisfying different printing requirements. Furthermore, they happen to be more durable and it is simpler to maintain them because of a lesser number of moving components. However, the speed of printing is rather slow compared to laser printers using the RIP software.
